The head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation has filed a lawsuit against MP Getmantsev
Acting Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov has filed a lawsuit against People’s Deputy Danylo Getmantsev of the “Servant of the People” faction. The lawsuit concerns the protection of his honor, dignity, and professional reputation. Details of the case have not yet been disclosed.
This was reported on Monday, June 1, by attorney Masy Nayem, whose law firm Miller will represent Bornyakov in court.
According to Nayem, the basis for the lawsuit was Getmantsev’s posts on his Telegram channel. In particular, they contained allegations of Bornyakov’s alleged involvement in a criminal organization, corruption schemes, the fictitious distribution of licenses, the illegal acquisition of funds, evasion of testifying in criminal proceedings, and the deliberate disruption of the implementation of state digital services.
The law firm emphasizes that these statements constitute factual assertions, not evaluative judgments or political criticism, and therefore require proper evidentiary support.
“What the MP disseminated is not an assessment, not criticism, not an opinion. It is a statement of facts. And a fact is either true or false; there is no third option,” Nayem wrote.
He added that the lawsuit will be grounded in Ukrainian law and the practice of the European Court of Human Rights, which defines the boundaries between freedom of speech and liability for disseminating false information.
“Everyone has the right to criticism, their own opinion, and public debate, but no one has the right to spread false statements about a specific person, especially when it comes to accusations of crimes, corruption, or other illegal acts,” the lawyer added.
According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation: 120 services based on open data are currently operating in Ukraine.
