The President denied tensions with the EU over Ukraine's accession

The Office of the President of Ukraine stated that there is no tension in relations with the European Union regarding the pace of Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

The official was asked to comment on media reports that the slowdown in reforms in Ukraine and the insistence on rapid EU membership are allegedly creating tension between Kyiv and its partners.

Zhovkva said he was “not aware of any tension” and noted that the president maintains daily contact with top EU officials, just as daily contacts take place at the level of mid-level officials.

“There is a clear process that is currently moving forward at the pace our partners can afford… We have fully met all the conditions required for the next stage. And the next stage is the opening of clusters,” the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office noted.
