Ukrzaliznytsia's fleet has been expanded with new railcars
Since the beginning of 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia’s fleet has grown by 15 new passenger cars, three of which are already making their first trips to Dnipro and Uzhhorod.
Upgrading the rolling stock is critically important amid the war, as Russia has carried out 1,094 strikes on Ukrainian railway facilities since the beginning of this year alone.
The new cars will operate as part of trains No. 29/30 Kyiv–Uzhhorod and No. 3/4 Zaporizhzhia–Uzhhorod (via Dnipro). They fully meet modern comfort standards and were manufactured at a domestic facility with the involvement of over 150 Ukrainian manufacturers and component suppliers.
Overall, the state program to modernize the rail fleet calls for the phased delivery of 100 new railcars by May 2028. These will include compartment and accessible cars, as well as next-generation rolling stock with a service life extended by 20 years.
This was announced by Oleksiy Kuleba, Minister of Community and Territorial Development.
Ukrzaliznytsia has changed the schedule for commuter trains in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Ukrzaliznytsia has warned of train delays due to shelling.
