A petition to protect the Carpathians has gathered 25,000 signatures

A petition by veteran and environmentalist Andriy Tupikov, in which he called for the introduction of a bill to protect the Carpathians, has gathered over 25,000 signatures. The initiative aims to draw the government’s attention to the preservation of the environment and natural resources in the mountainous region.

This is reported by the civic initiative “Holka.”

The veteran demanded that a bill be submitted to parliament to regulate the specific conditions for the sustainable development of the Carpathian region and ensure the protection of its unique natural complexes, landscapes, and culture.

The initiative aims to prevent clear-cutting of forests, any form of large-scale construction, and the placement of related engineering infrastructure in areas above 1,000 meters above sea level, as well as in other natural areas that are critical for the preservation of biodiversity, water resources, and landscapes.

The veteran also emphasized that it is imperative to create new and expand existing nature conservation areas in the Carpathians, specifically: the nature reserves "Vilny Svidovets," "Polonyna Hosta," "Polonyna Krasna," "Polonyna Apetska," "Polonyna Bychkiv," "Lutyanska Holitsa," and "Verkhovynskyi Vododilny Ridge," as well as the "Majestic Carpathians" and "Verkhovynskyi" national nature parks.

A request to this effect was submitted to the relevant ministry some time ago.

A petition to rename the "Pochaina" metro station to "Banderivska" did not receive enough votes.

Earlier, the Kyiv City Council adopted a decision to rename Pravdy Avenue in honor of the European Union.

At the Kyiv metro station "Zvirynetska," the old name "Friendship of Nations" was removed from the track walls, and two of the four sets of the new name were installed.
