A Drunk TCC Officer Beat a Soldier During a Disciplinary Conversation in the Carpathian Region
In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, a senior lieutenant—the deputy commander of a company at one of the regional military recruitment centers and special forces units—was detained on suspicion of assaulting a subordinate soldier. The man was intoxicated.
The incident occurred on August 13 at around 5:00 a.m. A 45-year-old soldier from Lviv was taken to the hospital. He reported that he sustained injuries at the district military recruitment center during a confrontation with the deputy company commander.
According to the investigation, the officer arrived at the TCC at night while intoxicated and decided to have a “disciplinary talk” with the soldier, who was on duty. During the conversation, he humiliated his subordinate and used physical force against him.
As a result of the beating, the soldier sustained a closed fracture of the left acromioclavicular joint. He required surgery.
The officer’s state of intoxication was confirmed by medical test results—0.69 per mille. Investigators also interviewed the victim and witnesses, conducted investigative experiments, and seized the necessary documents.
The detainee was notified of the charges against him under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—abuse of authority or official powers by a military official under martial law. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
The State Bureau of Investigations is requesting that the court impose pretrial detention on the suspect. The pretrial investigation is ongoing.
