Following the strengthening of air defense capabilities, the interception rate of cruise missiles has risen to nearly 80% — Fedorov
Ukraine has significantly improved the effectiveness of its air defense system, achieving an 80% interception rate for cruise missiles.
This was announced by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov during his speech at the 34th meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense in the “Ramstein” format.
The head of the Defense Ministry emphasized that the past winter period was a serious test for the entire country.
The Russian Federation deployed a massive arsenal of weapons in an attempt to completely destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
According to the data provided, between November and March, the Kremlin launched 462 ballistic missiles at Ukrainian cities. In addition, the enemy deployed nearly 600 cruise missiles and a record number of kamikaze drones.
“From November to March, the Kremlin launched 462 ballistic missiles, nearly 600 cruise missiles, and 27,000 ‘Shahed’-type drones against Ukraine to cripple our energy system and leave people in the dark,” emphasized Mykhailo Fedorov.
Despite the intensity of the shelling, Ukraine’s power grid remained intact thanks to the skill of the military and the assistance of international partners.
The minister noted that the country not only withstood the attacks but also significantly strengthened its air defense capabilities.
“But Ukraine has stood its ground. We have strengthened our air defense: the interception rate for cruise missiles was nearly 80%, and the interception rate for drones rose to 90%,” the defense minister stated.
These results were made possible by the integration of new Western systems and the creation of mobile fire groups.
Mykhailo Fedorov thanked the meeting participants for their continued support and the supply of critically important weapons.
