After three months in the Special Forces, the soldier returned to his unit, and the court dismissed the case

The senior lieutenant left his military unit without authorization on February 9, and on May 9, he voluntarily returned and declared his readiness to continue his service.

The soldier admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. His actions were classified under Part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—desertion during martial law. The penalty for this offense is 5 to 10 years in prison.

The court took into account that the man had no prior convictions under this article, voluntarily returned to his unit, and wishes to continue his service. The command also agreed to his continued service.

As a result, the court exempted the soldier from criminal liability and dismissed the case. Once the decision takes effect, he must report to his military unit within 72 hours.
