Following the explosions in Vyshneve, the Ministry of Defense will inspect ammunition depots

The Office of the Prosecutor General has asked the Ministry of Defense to conduct an audit of ammunition depots following the explosions in Vyshneve. Specifically, it is proposed to verify whether such facilities are located near residential areas.

Deputy Prosecutor General Andriy Leshchenko explained that investigators are currently establishing the circumstances of the explosion in Vyshneve as part of a criminal investigation. Therefore, they cannot independently inspect other potentially dangerous sites.

At the same time, the Prosecutor General’s Office believes that such incidents may not be isolated. Consequently, the prosecutor’s office sent an official letter to the Ministry of Defense requesting that it conduct a separate inspection within the scope of its authority.

It is expected that, based on the audit’s findings, the Ministry of Defense will determine whether additional security measures are needed to prevent similar situations from recurring.

“We are currently awaiting not only the results of its review but also the practical steps that will be taken by the ministry,” Leshchenko noted.
