South Korea has provided Ukraine with a new $100 million aid package
South Korea has confirmed the allocation of a new $100 million aid package to Ukraine. This was announced during a meeting between Ukrainian and South Korean officials on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that the President of the Republic of Korea had confirmed the decision to provide this support. “I would like to highlight the meeting with the President of South Korea in particular. The South Korean President confirmed the provision of a $100 million aid package to Ukraine,” Sibiga said.
According to the minister, during the talks, the parties also discussed security issues concerning Ukraine and South Korea. Special attention was paid to cooperation in light of North Korean military involvement in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Sybiga emphasized that the security of both countries is now closely linked to Moscow’s actions and its military partnership with Pyongyang. “This is primarily due to Russia’s involvement of North Korean military personnel in the war against Ukraine,” the minister noted.
Ukraine and South Korea have recently been strengthening their cooperation in the areas of security and aid. Kyiv is calling on its international partners to continue their support in order to counter Russian aggression. A new aid package from Seoul is set to be the next step in supporting Ukraine amid a full-scale war. The Ukrainian foreign minister announced this to reporters during a briefing.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish President Karol Nawrocki may hold their first in-person meeting in the near future. After a brief conversation, the leaders agreed to try to coordinate their schedules during the NATO summit. The parties are working to ensure that the meeting takes place in the near future.
