Power outages will begin throughout Ukraine at 5:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, July 1, all regions of Ukraine will be forced to implement power rationing schedules, which will affect residential consumers as well as industry and businesses. Hourly power outages for one rotation will be in effect from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The reason for the return of these restrictions is a sharp increase in the load on the power grid due to the heat and widespread use of air conditioners, which has increased consumption by at least 25%.
Additional factors contributing to the power shortage include scheduled maintenance at facilities, ongoing efforts to repair damage from previous shelling by Russia, and a reduction in electricity imports. Energy officials are urging citizens to conserve resources, avoid turning on several high-power appliances at the same time during peak hours, and not cool rooms below 23–24 degrees. Consumers can check the current minute-by-minute schedules for each address on the official websites or social media pages of their regional power distribution companies, while residents of Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast can do so via YASNO’s digital services.
As a reminder, Ukrenergo has warned of possible prolonged power outages this summer.
