The BEB raided a steel mill: lawmakers are among those implicated

The Economic Security Bureau is conducting searches at a metallurgical plant in Brovary, owned by ALTEG LLC and BRAZ LLC, in connection with a case involving alleged large-scale tax evasion.

According to investigators, those implicated in the case include current Kyiv City Council member Roman Yaroshenko, former council member Andriy Zayets, and businessmen Vyacheslav and Oleksandr Suprunenko. Law enforcement officials believe that a network of controlled companies engaged in fictitious transactions involving no actual goods was used to minimize taxes.

Investigators allege that property taxes were underreported by 8.9 million hryvnias, VAT by 23.5 million hryvnias, and that unreported scrap metal worth 39 million hryvnias and other unreported goods worth 286 million hryvnias were discovered. It is also reported that hundreds of metric tons of undocumented aluminum scrap were discovered.

The investigation is currently ongoing. As part of the proceedings, preparations are underway to freeze the companies’ bank accounts and seize their assets, as well as to serve notices of suspicion to those involved.
