Budanov attended a religious service marking the 975th anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, attended a solemn liturgy at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where the 975th anniversary of the monastery’s founding is being celebrated on July 10. During the celebration, he emphasized that the prayers of those attending the service were dedicated to Ukraine, its defenders, and future victory.

In comments to journalists, the head of the Office of the President explained the significance of this liturgy.

According to Budanov, today at the Lavra, everyone is praying for Ukraine, for the president, and for the people. In the official’s view, Ukrainians will prevail in the war against the aggressor because they are God’s chosen people.

“The greatest Orthodox shrine is here, in Kyiv. It has stood for over a thousand years and will outlive us all. Ukrainians are God’s chosen people, so we will prevail. This is where all of Orthodoxy originated, and no one will be able to change that, no matter how hard they try,” the official emphasized, as reported by Channel 24.

As a reminder, a new phase of tension may arise in relations between Ukraine and Poland in the coming days. This was stated by Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, while commenting on the situation on the eve of the anniversary of the Volhynia tragedy.

Budanov also stated that Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, has taken the signals sent by the Ukrainian authorities seriously. According to him, Minsk is currently not interested in a direct military confrontation with Ukraine.
