"There is no agreed-upon candidate for the post of Ukrainian ambassador to the U.S.," said Zheleznyak

People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak stated that, as of today, the government has not yet decided on a candidate for Ukraine's new ambassador to the United States.

According to the lawmaker, there is currently neither an agreed-upon candidate nor even a shortlist of contenders. He described all the names that have recently appeared in the media as mere speculation and rumors.

“As of now, there is no single agreed-upon candidate. Not even a shortlist. All the names being mentioned are mere speculation or rumors. Nothing more,” Zheleznyak wrote.

He also claims that after Yulia Svyrydenko declined the position and Rustem Umerov’s candidacy was not approved, the Office of the President continues to search for a candidate for the diplomatic post.

According to the lawmaker, a final decision has not yet been made, and the new ambassador could be “a very unexpected candidate.”

There is currently no official information from the Office of the President or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the appointment of a new Ukrainian ambassador to the U.S.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy recently dismissed Stefanishyna from her post as Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S., and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) served her with new charges.

In addition, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accepted the credentials of the new ambassadors from Oman, North Macedonia, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, and France.
