Kyiv police dismantled an interregional cocaine distribution network worth 8 million hryvnias
Operatives from the Department of Internal Security and investigators from the Kyiv Police have dismantled a large-scale interregional cocaine distribution network that operated between the Dnipropetrovsk region and the Kyiv metropolitan area.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.
During the special operation, law enforcement officers detained four participants in the criminal scheme and seized a shipment of high-grade cocaine worth nearly 8 million hryvnias.
The criminal operation was organized by a representative of a well-known criminal group from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, who had established a well-organized logistics network.
The organizer of the operation was a 40-year-old resident of Kryvyi Rih—a member of the Kryvyi Rih drug gang “Dvadsyativski.”
He used a car with a specially equipped compartment to secretly transport cocaine from Kryvyi Rih to Kyiv, where he was met by an accomplice, a 43-year-old resident of the Kyiv region, who was responsible for selling the “merchandise.”
To gather evidence, Kyiv detectives conducted a series of simultaneous authorized searches at the suspects’ residences and in their vehicles.
Searches were conducted at the suspects’ residences. The following items were seized: approximately one kilogram of cocaine, electronic scales, mobile phones, and cash. The street value of the seized drugs is approximately 8 million hryvnias.
During the course of investigative and search operations, police were able to trace the distribution network for the illicit substances to higher-level figures.
In addition, operatives identified a wholesale buyer of cocaine—a 35-year-old resident of the Kyiv region who subsequently resold the “merchandise”—and one of his customers.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of special forces, the dealers were apprehended while attempting to sell another batch.
All the dealers were detained directly at the scene of the crime and are currently being held in a temporary detention facility. All suspects were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Police investigators have already gathered sufficient irrefutable evidence to formally charge the detainees under relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
