The SBU detained a student who was coordinating Russian strikes in the Dnipropetrovsk region

The SBU’s counterintelligence unit has exposed another suspected Russian agent in the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to the investigation, the individual is a local student suspected of coordinating Russian strikes on the Nikopol district. Law enforcement officials claim that the district is regularly subjected to attacks by guided bombs, drones, and artillery. The circumstances of the case are being established.

According to the case file, the suspect directed enemy fire at the Defense Forces’ temporary bases and logistics centers.

He also attempted to scout key bridges and railway stations used by Ukrainian troops for cargo transportation.

To identify potential “targets,” the suspect patrolled the frontline area and recorded them on his phone camera.

After his reconnaissance missions, he compiled the gathered information into an intelligence report, in which he “tagged” the photos to the geolocations of the sites on Google Maps.

Subsequently, the suspect traveled to the Cherkasy region, where he hoped to “lay low” in a rented apartment to evade justice.

SBU officers identified his location and detained him. During a search, a smartphone containing evidence of his work for the enemy was seized.

As the investigation revealed, Russian intelligence officers recruited the student while he was looking for “easy money” on Telegram channels.

Soon after, he received a “test” assignment from the Russians: to travel to Kyiv to track the parking location of a military officer’s vehicle and relay the coordinates to his handler in Russia.

Investigators from the Security Service informed the agent that he was suspected of violating Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).

The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU officers in the Cherkasy and Dnipropetrovsk regions under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
