Ukraine is preparing new restrictions for draft dodgers

The government has developed a package of legislative initiatives that provide for additional measures to address individuals who evade military service. According to Military Ombudswoman Olga Reshetilova, these measures include possible restrictions on access to certain administrative services, temporary suspension of driving privileges, and the freezing of funds in bank accounts.

Reshetilova noted that the draft laws have already been drafted but have not yet been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. This is a set of measures intended to increase accountability for draft dodgers.

“These bills have already been drafted; they have not yet been submitted to parliament. But they involve restrictions on the provision of administrative services, the use of driver’s licenses, the freezing of bank accounts, and so on,” the military ombudswoman noted.

She added that these are not merely individual sanctions, but a comprehensive package designed to address several issues at once.

“This is a set of measures that will enable more effective investigative actions against offenders who evade mobilization, restrict their freedom of movement, and limit their access to certain services provided by the state,” Reshetilova stated.

The ombudswoman specifically emphasized that this approach would be fair to Ukrainian servicemembers. Those who have served faithfully for a long time are already in need of replacement.

“This set of measures must go hand in hand with a well-planned, gradual demobilization of military personnel,” Reshetilova added.

Earlier, a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) was mobilized in the Khmelnytskyi region.

As a reminder, Lubinets stated that the investigation into the Skelya Regiment is still ongoing, but a case has already been opened.

An electronic military registration document has been introduced in the Army+ app, allowing servicemembers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the State Special Transport Service (SSTS) to quickly verify their status using a smartphone.
