Police found the body of a three-year-old boy in a body of water in the Rivne region
A large-scale search operation in the Dubrovychi district led to a tragic discovery—the body of a three-year-old boy was found in a local body of water.
This was reported by the Rivne Regional Police.
The child had gone missing the day before along with his four-year-old relative, whose fate remains unknown.
The incident shook the village of Kolky on April 5, when around 3:00 p.m., two young nephews of a 35-year-old local woman went out to ride their bicycles.
When the children did not return home at the appointed time, the woman turned to law enforcement for help.
The region’s maximum available resources were immediately mobilized to search for the children.
Police officers, K-9 units with service dogs, State Emergency Service rescuers, border guards, as well as dozens of local residents and relatives of the missing children are participating in the search operation.
Specialists are using modern technology to survey the rugged terrain, including continuously monitoring the area with drones.
It was during such a thorough inspection of the surrounding areas that the body of the younger child was spotted in the water.
“The body of the younger boy was found in a body of water,” representatives of the Rivne Regional National Police officially confirmed.
Currently, forensic experts are working at the scene to determine the exact cause of the child’s death.
The search for the second child, a four-year-old boy named Dmytro, continues without pause. Law enforcement officers and volunteers are combing through forests, shorelines, and abandoned buildings in the hope of finding the older boy alive.
The operation is proceeding at full speed, with all relevant agencies experienced in searching for people in natural environments involved.
The police are urging residents of nearby towns to remain vigilant and report any useful information.
