A member of the Pervomaisky City Council in Mykolaiv Oblast was fined 8,500 hryvnias for speaking Russian during an official city council meeting.
This was reported by the press service of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.
This marks a repeat violation of language legislation within a year. It is noted that the councilwoman had already been held administratively liable for a similar violation in 2025.
According to the law, the working language of local government bodies, particularly during sessions, meetings, and official communication, is the state language.
If the fine is not paid by the deadline, the amount will double to 17,000 UAH, and the ruling will be forwarded to the enforcement service for compulsory enforcement.
