Polish customs has been holding up Ukrposhta's vehicles for two months

Polish customs has been holding up Ukrposhta's vehicles for two months

Polish customs has been holding Ukrposhta’s shipments for two months now, prompting the company’s CEO to decide not to attend the URC-2026 conference in Gdańsk—the latest episode of tension in the logistics cooperation between the two sides.

“For the past two months, Ukrposhta’s vehicles have been blocked by Polish customs, and we’ve been forced to bypass Poland via Hungary and Slovakia (where we face no issues) and, in essence, have rerouted all our transit flows to bypass Poland,” Smiliansky wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

According to him, the company’s customers are not noticing this because “Ukrposhta” has established alternative routes through other countries.

Smilyansky added that due to this blockade, he decided a month ago not to participate in the URC2026 Conference on Ukraine’s Recovery, which will take place in Gdańsk on June 25–26, “even before this became a trend set by the President.”

The head of Ukrposhta clarified that the ban on shipping state awards does not apply to Nova Poshta, as it is an express delivery operator.

Smiliansky cited another possible reason: the delivery of Ukrposhta mail within Poland is handled by Poczta Polska, “and perhaps there were doubts that they would deliver it.”

Earlier, Zelenskyy had sent Navrotsky the Order of the White Eagle via Nova Poshta.

Following this, Leonid Kuchma declined the Polish Order of the White Eagle.

Ukraine’s third president, Viktor Yushchenko, also declined the Polish Order of the White Eagle.
