Poland Is Not Interested in Ukraine's EU Membership — Chernev
Ukrainian People’s Deputy Yegor Chernev stated that Poland is allegedly not interested in Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. According to him, one of the reasons is economic.
He explained that Poland is not interested in Ukraine’s EU membership because Polish farmers would suffer if our country joined the bloc.
“Because their farmers—who are not as efficient as ours—will suffer as a result. Because Ukraine will become a fairly large member state in the Council of Europe. Because we will become the hub of Eastern Europe. I think this tension stems from both political and economic issues and the threat to Poland posed by Ukraine’s accession to the EU. And this card will be played again and again, unfortunately,” Chernev said during the telethon.
