In Kharkiv, police detained a man after he attacked several people
On the evening of June 20 in Kharkiv, a man attacked people in one of the city’s districts, injuring at least three people. Law enforcement officers quickly apprehended the attacker, and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
This was reported by Yulia Girdvilis, a spokesperson for the National Police of Ukraine.
Footage appeared online that evening showing the man being detained in the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. Social media users claimed that he had allegedly stabbed nine people.
However, according to Yulia Girdvilis, the incident occurred in the Kholodnohirskyi district at approximately 5:30 p.m., and as of 9:45 p.m., three victims have been reported.
This information was also confirmed by the Kharkiv Regional Police on Telegram, noting that the attacker was a native of Cherkasy.
“A 22-year-old man from Cherkasy burst into a retail kiosk and used a shard of a broken bottle to inflict cuts on a man, after which he punched the saleswoman in the head. While fleeing the scene, the attacker also kicked an elderly woman in the face as she was passing by. The victims are receiving medical attention,” the statement reads.
Police have already located the attacker, and the issue of his arrest and the entry of the case into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations is currently being resolved.
Preliminarily, the man’s actions are classified under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism). The penalty for this offense is up to 7 years of imprisonment. As of now, initial investigative measures are underway, RBC-Ukraine reports.
