More than 9 million pensioners have already received 1,500 hryvnias each – Svyrydenko
More than 9 million Ukrainian pensioners have already received a payment of 1,500 hryvnias as spring social assistance.
The funds are being disbursed both to bank cards and through Ukrposhta branches.
This was stated by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, according to reports citing her speech in the Verkhovna Rada.
"When we talk about the most vulnerable segments of the population—pensioners and internally displaced persons—we have a corresponding program in place. It is the 1,500 hryvnia support program," Svyrydenko noted.
According to her, as of now, 9 million pensioners have already received the corresponding assistance on their cards.
Who is eligible for assistance
A one-time payment of 1,500 hryvnias is provided for the most vulnerable segments of the population. The list of recipients includes:
senior citizens and people with disabilities;
low-income and large families;
internally displaced persons (IDPs);
single mothers and recipients of basic social assistance.
The assistance is granted provided that the total amount of a person’s monthly payments (including all supplements) does not exceed 25,950 hryvnias.
At the same time, certain categories of citizens will receive state support regardless of their income level. These include:
persons who directly participated in the defense of Ukraine;
family members of fallen, deceased, or missing Defenders;
participants in the cleanup of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident.
Ukraine is preparing for winter by focusing on water and reserves.
