Sibiga commented on the Kremlin's threats of new strikes on Kyiv
Ukraine believes that international partners should not succumb to Russian blackmail and threats of new strikes on Ukrainian cities, but should respond to the escalation in a proportionate and decisive manner—by increasing aid packages and providing additional missiles.
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga at a joint press conference with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, head of the United Transitional Cabinet of the Belarusian democratic opposition, according to Ukrinform.
According to the minister, the Kremlin’s escalating aggressive rhetoric—including nuclear threats and joint military exercises on Belarusian territory—is an attempt to influence Western public opinion and demonstrates the Russian leadership’s complete lack of interest in the peace process. Andriy Sybiga emphasized that Putin must clearly understand the consequences of refusing serious negotiations and realize the impossibility of achieving military objectives in Ukraine. The Foreign Minister noted that during contacts with partners, a firm response has already been discussed—actions that will demonstrate that Europe is not intimidated and is capable of responding to threats with force, which will allow Ukraine to secure additional solidarity packages and concrete support.
The aggressor state, the Russian Federation, will continue to strike Kyiv, which the Russians traditionally refer to as retaliatory strikes.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced its intention to launch “systemic strikes” on Kyiv, claiming that the targets would allegedly be facilities involved in the development, production, and use of Ukrainian drones.
Sybiga called on partners to respond to Russia’s threats by stepping up military aid
