Despite the dispute with Poland, Zelenskyy will attend a conference on Ukraine's recovery

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will participate in the Conference on Ukraine’s Recovery, which will take place on June 25–26 in Gdańsk, Poland.

According to a source, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received an official note from the Ukrainian side regarding the head of state’s participation in the event.

In recent weeks, tensions have arisen in Polish-Ukrainian relations due to a debate over naming one of the Ukrainian military units after UPA figures. Against this backdrop, speculation has emerged in the Polish media that Zelenskyy’s visit to Poland might be reconsidered.

At the same time, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Mykyta Poturaev had previously stated that the Ukrainian delegation plans to participate in the conference and that the president “is expected to be” among the event’s participants.

A source in the Polish government has now confirmed Zelenskyy’s visit.

Poland’s Government Commissioner for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Paweł Kowal, emphasized that the conference is a joint initiative of Poland and Ukraine, so both sides are interested in its success.

Up to 5,000 guests are expected to attend the forum, including:

  • heads of state and government;
  • representatives of international organizations;
  • investors and the business community;
  • experts on reconstruction and development.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference will be held in Poland for the first time. Previously, such events took place in Lugano, London, Berlin, and Rome.

This year’s forum in Gdańsk will be one of the key international platforms for discussing Ukraine’s post-war recovery and attracting investment in the country’s reconstruction.

A source in the Polish government reported this to the newspaper Rzeczpospolita.

On June 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held meetings with European Union leaders on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France. The parties agreed on a timeline for opening the next five negotiation clusters regarding Ukraine’s accession to the EU and discussed the conditions for providing the first financial tranche.

On June 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the key outcome of the G7 leaders’ summit in France was an agreement to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense systems. According to him, this decision is one of the most important results of international negotiations for Kyiv.
