A Ministry of Culture official has been charged with justifying Russian aggression and calling for military strikes

The head of one of the departments at the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine has been notified that she is suspected of justifying Russia’s armed aggression.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General and sources in law enforcement agencies.

The investigation established that the suspect justified Russia’s actions in conversations, presenting the full-scale invasion by Russian troops not as aggression, but as allegedly lawful actions. According to sources, the suspect is Irina Romanenko.

In particular, she claimed that Ukraine itself provoked the war and the strikes on energy facilities, and also speculated on where the Russians might strike with their missiles—and not just one. All these statements were made in Kyiv, while the tragic consequences of Russia’s aggression were unfolding. Expert analyses confirmed the unlawful nature of the official’s statements.

During a search of her home, letters addressed to Vladimir Putin and unknown recipients were found, written in her son’s name, in which he allegedly asked for help leaving Ukraine because he “does not want to live among Nazis” and sees his future in Russia.
