There are 100,000 police officers working in the National Police of Ukraine — Vygivsky
More than 100,000 police officers are currently maintaining law and order in Ukraine, with about 9,000 of them directly carrying out combat missions on the front lines.
This was announced during a briefing by the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhovsky, who revealed details about the agency’s personnel.
According to the head of the National Police, the force consists of just over 100,000 officers, 25,000 of whom are women.
In addition, a significant portion of the personnel consists of young people: 13,500 law enforcement officers are under the age of 25.
Vygivsky paid special attention to the contribution of police officers to the defense of the state on the front lines. In addition to units on the front lines, more than 30,000 police officers are serving in territories directly bordering the combat zone.
An important part of the speech was a comment on the high-profile incident during the terrorist attack in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv.
Commenting on the actions of two police officers who left civilians with a child at the scene of the shooting, Vygivsky called the situation “regrettable.”
The head of the agency assured that personnel decisions are already being made regarding this incident, and the investigation materials will be forwarded to the State Bureau of Investigation.
However, he emphasized: “But it is not entirely fair or correct to draw conclusions about the entire National Police system based solely on the actions of these two police officers.”
The head of the National Police emphasized that, overall, the police responded promptly and neutralized the terrorist in accordance with protocol. He also expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the attack in the capital, where six people died.
