An official was charged in connection with ₴6.8 million in losses from the procurement of shelters
Detectives from the Territorial Directorate of the State Bureau of Investigations in Lviv Oblast have completed a pre-trial investigation into an official at a heat supply company whose actions caused the company to suffer losses of more than 6.8 million hryvnias.
According to the investigation, the company’s acting CEO entered into a direct contract for the supply of modular shelters for employees of two combined heat and power plants, acting contrary to the interests of the company and with the aim of obtaining an unlawful benefit for a third-party company.
Law enforcement officials determined that the official was aware that the shelters did not meet the established technical requirements and were unsuitable for use as protective structures, yet he still signed the contract, ensured the acceptance of the products, and arranged for their full payment at the company’s expense.
The total purchase amount exceeded 6.8 million hryvnias. Forensic examinations confirmed that the delivered modular structures cannot be used as shelters for their intended purpose.
As a result, the company spent significant funds on structures that are incapable of protecting thermal power plant employees while they work at critical infrastructure facilities.
Based on the evidence gathered, the official was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—abuse of authority or official position resulting in serious consequences.
The BEB noted that the suspect has not admitted guilt and has not compensated for the damages caused.
The indictment has now been submitted to the court for further consideration of the case.
This was reported by the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.
