Border guards detained the organizer of a scheme to smuggle men into Romania
Border guards from the Chernivtsi Detachment dismantled an illegal migration network to Romania and detained its organizer. A 52-year-old resident of Bukovina was caught red-handed while receiving a deposit of 12,000 dollars.
Simultaneously with the organizer’s arrest, law enforcement officers stopped five men of draft age in the area of the “Krasnoilsk” border guard unit near the state border.
The detainees were residents of the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, who were to pay the ringleader a total of $66,000 for unimpeded border crossing. Currently, administrative offense reports have been filed against the “clients,” while the organizer has been formally detained and charged under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation of persons across the state border).
This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine—Western Border.
Earlier, a court in Volyn sentenced a serviceman to five years in prison for twice leaving his post without authorization after participating in combat operations and sustaining injuries.
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations completed the pre-trial investigation and filed an indictment against a serviceman from the Sumy region. The man is accused of the illegal possession and sale of firearms, ammunition, and explosives without the required legal authorization.
