The Rada Approved Changes to the Taxation of International Packages

On September 16, the Verkhovna Rada passed in the first reading a bill to amend the rules for taxing international packages. The new regulations may take effect no earlier than July 2027.

 

The Verkhovna Rada supported Bill No. 16051-1 in its first reading, which provides for changes to the taxation rules for international parcels and e-commerce. A total of 273 members of parliament voted in favor of the bill.

The Verkhovna Rada also passed Bill No. 15460 on first reading, which updates customs regulations for international postal and express shipments. The bill was adopted in principle by 267 members of parliament.

However, the changes will not take effect immediately after the law is passed. As MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted, the provisions will not take effect until July 1, 2027, at the earliest, and only after a corresponding decision by the government.

As a reminder, the Rada has increased penalties for fraud committed through call centers.

However, the Rada rejected a bill to increase penalties for fatal traffic accidents.

In addition, the Rada allowed internally displaced persons from the temporarily occupied territories to purchase housing using vouchers and loans.
