The Rada passed a law on the merger of the SkhidGZK enterprise with Energoatom
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a law on the corporatization of the “Eastern Mining and Processing Plant” (“SkhidGZK”).
According to him, the passage of the law will make it possible to preserve and develop Ukraine’s only enterprise that mines uranium ore and produces natural uranium concentrate.
The next step following the law’s passage will be the merger of “SkhidGZK” with NAEK “Energoatom.”
As a result, Ukraine plans to create a vertically integrated holding company that will control the entire technological cycle—from uranium ore mining and uranium concentrate production to electricity generation.
This model is expected to strengthen Ukraine’s nuclear fuel complex and ensure greater integration among enterprises in the industry.
This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on Telegram.
Currently, NAEK “Energoatom” is continuing to prepare Ukrainian nuclear power plants for the fall-winter season. The company has already completed scheduled maintenance work on four power units and is preparing the facilities for stable operation during the cold season.
