The Rada will open its own representative office at the European Parliament
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plans to open its own representative office to the European Parliament in the near future. This step is intended to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation and support Ukraine’s course toward European integration.
According to Stefanchuk, the Verkhovna Rada aims to establish its own representative office at the European Parliament, similar to the European Parliament’s representative office that is already operating in Ukraine.
“In the near future, we aim to open a representative office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the European Parliament, just as the European Parliament has already opened its representative office in Ukraine,” he emphasized.
Expanding cooperation with the Nordic and Baltic states will be a separate area of focus.
According to the Speaker of Parliament, official visits to Reykjavík and Helsinki are planned in the near future, which should help deepen political cooperation with countries in the region.
Ruslan Stefanchuk also announced that Ukraine will participate for the fifth time in the G7 Speakers’ Summit, which will take place on September 10–12 in Paris.
At the same time, he called on Ukrainian diplomats to intensify their efforts to advance negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, particularly regarding the opening of new negotiation clusters.
The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized the importance of intensifying interparliamentary dialogue with the countries on which Ukraine’s EU accession process largely depends.
“We must work together to remove artificial barriers and put an end to baseless, politically motivated anti-Ukrainian rhetoric,” Stefanchuk stated.
He also announced plans to make official visits to Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia. According to him, these will be the first visits by a Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada to these countries in many years: to Romania and Hungary—for the first time in 15 years—and to Slovakia—for the first time in eight years.
Ruslan Stefanchuk also focused specifically on Ukrainian-Polish relations. He noted that the Verkhovna Rada continues to actively cooperate with the Sejm and Senate of Poland and intends to help overcome temporary difficulties in the bilateral dialogue.
The opening of the Verkhovna Rada’s representative office to the European Parliament will be another step toward deepening cooperation with European institutions and supporting Ukraine’s path toward full membership in the European Union.
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk made this statement during the 2026 Ambassadors’ Meeting, which took place in Kyiv and was dedicated to Ukraine’s key foreign policy priorities.
Earlier, the Central Election Commission registered Bohdan Morklyanik and Viktoria Reznikova as members of the Verkhovna Rada. They will replace Denys Maslov and Vitaliy Bezgin in the Verkhovna Rada, who have joined the new Cabinet of Ministers.
