Reform of the Territorial Defense Forces in Ukraine: The Ministry of Defense Has Announced the Timeline
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is preparing a reform of the mobilization system and territorial recruitment centers, but no specific date has been set for its launch.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defense Lyubov Galan during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission.
According to her, the Ministry of Defense is already working on the changes and consulting with the government. At the same time, final decisions will depend not only on the defense ministry but also on the country’s military and political leadership.
Galan noted that some time is still needed to prepare the reform, so it is too early to set specific deadlines.
She assured that the reform process is already underway and is expected to be implemented in the “foreseeable future.”
As a reminder, during Operation “Honest Draft,” law enforcement uncovered illegal activities by two recruitment groups from the Kyiv District Territorial Recruitment Center and the Odesa Joint Staff. Ten military personnel were notified of the charges against them.
Earlier, law enforcement officials detained the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office on suspicion of receiving illicit benefits totaling 15,000 U.S. dollars. According to the investigation, the official was caught receiving $10,000 in exchange for failing to take mobilization measures against three men subject to military service, removing them from the “Oberig” system’s wanted list, and ensuring conditions for their continued employment at their places of work.
In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, a senior lieutenant—the deputy company commander at one of the district Military Registration and Enlistment Offices—was detained on suspicion of assaulting a subordinate servicemember. The man was intoxicated at the time.
