Russia is planning a new offensive on Kyiv from Belarus — Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is attempting to draw Belarus deeper into the war against Ukraine and is considering new scenarios for aggression from its territory.

According to the head of state, Ukraine has detected additional contacts between Moscow and Alexander Lukashenko, during which the Russian side is attempting to persuade the Belarusian leadership to join new military operations.

“Russia is considering plans for operations south and north of Belarusian territory—either against the Chernihiv-Kyiv region in Ukraine or against one of the NATO countries,” Zelenskyy said.

The president emphasized that Ukraine is aware of the details of these negotiations and is ready to respond in the event of a new threat.

According to him, the Defense and Security Forces have already been instructed to reinforce this sector and prepare a response plan, which will be reviewed at the General Staff Headquarters.

“Ukraine will undoubtedly defend itself and its people if Alexander Lukashenko decides to support this Russian intention,” the president emphasized.

Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, held a meeting on military equipment and announced the preparation of a new state armament program for 2026–2030.

Belarus continues to build infrastructure facilities deep within its territory and is not moving them closer to the Ukrainian border. At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that Russia may use these facilities in the future to deploy additional forces and equipment.
