The decision on Yermak’s pretrial detention will be announced on May 14 at 9:00 a.m. — High Anti-Corruption Court

On May 14 at 9:00 a.m., the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine will announce its decision on a preventive measure for Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The judge retired to the deliberation room after concluding the hearing.

This was reported by Suspilne.

Prior to this, Andriy Yermak stated that he does not have 180 million hryvnias to post bail. According to his lawyer, the case file allegedly contains no evidence confirming his involvement in money laundering.

The defense also noted that the amount of any bail should correspond to the individual’s financial capabilities. The lawyer stated that Yermak’s income is approximately 10 million hryvnias, and his assets include a 2019 Mercedes and a three-bedroom apartment.

“I don’t think they’re very expensive. A 2019 Mercedes is worth some money, maybe $50,000. But 180 million is millions. That’s probably a jeep full of cash,” the lawyer said.

Yermak commented on whether he would be able to come up with the 180 million hryvnia bail.

The investigation insists on keeping Yermak in custody with a probable bail of 180 million hryvnias, given the scale of financial transactions in the “Dynasty” cottage community. The judge continues to review procedural issues and is setting a schedule for further hearings.

Former Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak stated on the evening of May 11, after receiving a notice of suspicion from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, that he would not comment on anything during the investigation.

The European Commission commented on the Yermak case.
