The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit regarding the assets of Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba for nearly 5 million hryvnias

On June 17, a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, based on materials from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking to have assets totaling nearly 5 million hryvnias declared unjustified and forfeited to the state. The case concerns property that, according to the investigation, is linked to Deputy Prime Minister for the Recovery of Ukraine—Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba—through his sister.

The lawsuit is based on the fact that in 2021, while serving as First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City Administration, the official, through his sister, entered into preliminary contracts for the sale of an apartment and a parking space in Kyiv. In 2023, while serving as Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the official ensured the conclusion of purchase and sale agreements for the aforementioned properties, their state registration, as well as the conclusion of service agreements for the apartment and parking space, involving his driver in the process.

An analysis of the official income and expenses of O. Kuleba and his family revealed that they did not have sufficient lawful income to acquire these assets.

In light of the above, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit with the court seeking to have the assets—whose lawful origin raises reasonable doubt—declared unjustified and to recover them from the nominal owner for the state’s benefit, according to the SAP.
