The SBU has charged 20 of its employees as part of a purge campaign

Since the beginning of 2026, the Security Service of Ukraine has notified 81 individuals of their status as suspects, 20 of whom are agency staff members implicated in activities against the state. In addition to internal corrupt officials, those detained include Russian “moles” who engaged in espionage on behalf of the Russian Federation, as well as participants in fraudulent schemes.

This was reported by the SBU, citing the results of the Internal Security Directorate’s work.

Acting Head of the SBU, Major General Yevhen Khmara, called the self-purification of the Defense Forces a priority on which the stability of the state and security at the front depend. In particular, in March, two deputy heads of regional departments were detained for attempting to organize illegal amber mining in the Rivne region. Law enforcement also exposed a group of individuals in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, and Lviv regions who were engaged in illegal activities under the guise of official service.

Some suspicions involve Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel who left their units without authorization and were involved in the production of counterfeit law enforcement IDs. Individuals who blew up a service van near SBU infrastructure facilities were also detained. Comprehensive measures are currently underway to identify all enemy agents of influence and corrupt officials who are undermining Ukraine’s defense capabilities from within.

As a reminder, the SBU detained a woman suspected of working for Russian intelligence services.

The SBU has also uncovered new schemes to evade mobilization across Ukraine.
