Zelenskyy to Meet with Merz, Macron, and Starmer in London — dpa
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in London on Sunday.
The main goal of the meeting will be to discuss in detail continued and future support for Ukraine amid Russia’s ongoing aggression.
Journalists received official confirmation of this information directly from Downing Street representatives.
According to diplomatic sources, the Ukrainian president will visit the United Kingdom along with his counterparts as early as Sunday.
This visit is extremely important for coordinating the actions of key European partners. The countries will agree on a joint strategy for defense assistance for the coming periods.
“This comes after a large-scale strike by Ukrainian drones on St. Petersburg, Russia’s second-largest city, on Saturday, underscoring Kyiv’s growing ability to strike deep into Russian territory. No casualties have been reported so far,” the journalists noted in their report.
Thus, the talks will take place against the backdrop of new significant successes by Ukrainian forces deep behind enemy lines.
It is known that the day before, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin demonstratively rejected Zelenskyy’s proposal to hold face-to-face talks on ending the war, which has been ongoing for over four years.
The Kremlin leader stressed that he sees no “point” in such a meeting. This move demonstrated to European allies Moscow’s complete unwillingness to pursue a diplomatic settlement.
