In Odesa, an employee of the Regional Center for Social Protection is suspected of extorting $11,000 in exchange for disability benefits and a deferral
In Odesa, law enforcement officers detained an employee of the district territorial center for conscription and social support who is suspected of extorting 11,000 U.S. dollars.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the woman allegedly promised to assist in obtaining disability status and a deferment from mobilization. An investigation is currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the case.
According to the investigation, the woman has been notified of charges under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—abuse of influence combined with extortion of an unlawful benefit.
She promised to influence decisions regarding disability status and deferment
The investigation established that in May 2026, through an acquaintance who is a lawyer, the official was approached for advice on obtaining a Group III disability designation for a person subject to military service and subsequently securing a deferment from mobilization.
According to law enforcement, the suspect claimed that for 11,000 U.S. dollars, she could influence the head of the expert panel responsible for determining disability status, as well as the head of the Regional Center for Technical and Medical Examination and Social Protection, who processes deferments.
She insisted that without her assistance, it would be impossible to resolve this matter.
She was detained after receiving part of the bribe
The man from whom the money was demanded contacted law enforcement and subsequently acted under their supervision.
An employee of the district RTCC and SP was arrested at a restaurant in Odesa immediately after receiving a portion of the bribe.
The court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of pretrial detention, with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of nearly 1 million hryvnias.

A case involving a $100,000 bribe at Ukrzaliznytsia is being referred to court.
