The SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation have caught two BEB officials taking bribes

The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor General and the State Bureau of Investigation, has uncovered two corruption schemes within the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.

This was reported by the SBU.

Law enforcement officers detained two UEB officials suspected of extorting bribes for “facilitating” business and helping individuals avoid criminal liability.

One of the suspects is a BEB analyst who began working at the agency only in February 2026. According to the investigation, he received an unlawful benefit from a Kyiv-based entrepreneur.

“In exchange for money, the official ‘helped’ the businessman obtain a license to store fuel at the company’s warehouses,” the SBU reported.

The second person detained was a senior detective with the BEB’s regional office in the Kyiv Oblast.

According to investigators, he demanded a bribe from a suspect in a criminal case in exchange for not bringing charges against him.

“SBU officers caught both officials red-handed,” law enforcement officials noted.

Charges are being prepared against the detainees under articles regarding the receipt of unlawful benefits and abuse of influence.

The SBU emphasized that the suspects face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

As a reminder, a scheme to help men flee abroad via the TCC was uncovered in Kharkiv.

The SBU detained the head of a medical examination commission in Kropyvnytskyi for selling disability certificates.

Kyiv police dismantled an interregional cocaine distribution network worth 8 million hryvnias.
