The SBU and the police uncovered eight schemes to evade mobilization and detained 14 organizers

The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Police, has thwarted new schemes to evade mobilization. According to law enforcement officials, eight such schemes have been uncovered in various regions of the country, and 14 organizers have been detained. Those involved include a bank employee, representatives of the Territorial Recruitment Center, bloggers, and individuals with prior criminal convictions.

This was reported by the SBU.

The Security Service and the National Police have thwarted eight more schemes to evade mobilization and detained the organizers of these schemes in various regions of Ukraine.

For sums ranging from $7,000 to $15,000, the operators offered conscripts the chance to avoid conscription through forged documents or helped them flee abroad outside of official border crossings.

For example, in Kyiv, SBU cyber experts exposed the deputy head of the customer service department at one of the capital’s banks, who, in exchange for bribes, “reserved” draft dodgers at a critical enterprise.

The perpetrator was caught red-handed at a shopping center while receiving money from a client.

In Odesa, SBU military counterintelligence officers exposed an employee of the administrative department of the Territorial Military Commissariat who was unjustifiably “removing” draft dodgers from military registration on health grounds.

He also helped conscripts avoid punishment for deserting their military units in exchange for money.

To do this, he allegedly promised to influence his acquaintances among high-ranking officials in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and members of the military medical commission.

Additionally, two suspects were detained in the Mykolaiv region, one of whom is a foreign national with a permanent residence permit in Ukraine.

According to the case file, they were selling foreign passports and driver’s licenses into which they pasted photos of draft dodgers.

In the Cherkasy region, the organizer of a “draft-dodging scheme” was detained; he already has a criminal record for murder.

According to the case file, the repeat offender was involved in the fictitious employment of conscripts at critical enterprises, followed by their departure abroad under the guise of business trips.

In the Poltava region, four bloggers were placed under suspicion for posting the locations of checkpoints and patrol routes within the region in messenger chat rooms.

Additionally, it was documented that one of the suspects attacked law enforcement officers at a local military registration and enlistment office and forcibly removed his acquaintance, who had been mobilized, from the secure facility.

In the Sumy region, three administrators of Telegram channels and a Viber group were exposed; they had published the coordinates of mobile recruitment center and joint patrol groups to help people avoid receiving personal draft notices.

In Vinnytsia, a local hospital employee was exposed for using her personal TikTok page to urge conscripts to “evade” law enforcement patrols to avoid mobilization.

In Bukovina, an official from the district TCC was detained for helping conscripts obtain fake disability certificates through his connections among doctors.

The perpetrators face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Comprehensive measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Cherkasy District Prosecutor’s Office, the Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Sumy, and Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor’s Offices, as well as the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense in the Southern Region and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense in the Western Region.

As a reminder, a scheme to smuggle men abroad via the TCC was uncovered in Kharkiv.

The SBU detained the head of the Medical and Social Examination Commission in Kropyvnytskyi for selling disability certificates.

Kyiv police dismantled an interregional cocaine distribution network worth 8 million hryvnias.
