The SBU has detained teenagers recruited by Russia to carry out terrorist attacks in schools

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police prevented terrorist attacks at schools in the Kirovohrad and Odesa regions by detaining two teenagers who had been recruited by Russian intelligence agencies.

This was reported by the SBU.

According to the investigation, the minors were recruited through special groups on social media, where Russia manipulates children using psychological pressure and promises of “justice.”

One of the suspects—a 15-year-old student in the Kirovohrad region—was supposed to make a homemade explosive device and detonate it at his high school during recess. After that, he planned to use a shotgun and a knife against his classmates.

Another teenager was detained in the Odesa region while still in the recruitment phase. According to the SBU, he was to be sent a weapon to carry out an attack at his school.

Law enforcement officials also determined that Russian handlers were encouraging the children to commit suicide after committing the crimes in order to cover their tracks.

One of the detainees has already been notified of suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack. He faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The SBU also detained a Russian agent who guided airstrikes on Sloviansk.

As a reminder, the SBU has referred the case of Andriy Parubiy’s murder to court.
