Sybiga discussed stepping up pressure on Russia with the British Home Secretary
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga met with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, during which the two sides agreed on further steps to increase pressure on Russia and discussed the security situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Ukrainian foreign minister announced this on social media.
According to Sybiha, the meeting took place in Antalya and was “fruitful and warm.” The Ukrainian minister briefed the British side on the consequences of the latest Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure.
“I had a very productive and warm meeting in Antalya with my British counterpart, Yvette Cooper. I briefed the Secretary of State on the consequences of Russia’s latest attacks on our cities and civilians. We discussed the results of the recent meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense in the “Ramstein” format. I thanked the United Kingdom for its significant contribution to the defense sector,” he noted.
Sybiga added that London shares Kyiv’s position on the need to increase pressure on Russia.
“We agreed on the appropriate next steps,” the minister emphasized.
The parties paid special attention to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and international efforts to ensure freedom of navigation.
“We discussed our bilateral relations and considered further steps to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience, particularly within the framework of the PURL initiative, as well as joint defense production and efforts to prevent illegal recruitment by Russia in African countries,” Sibiga added.
