Sibiga thanked Moldova for the discount on the transit of Ukrainian cargo
Moldova has agreed to provide a 50 percent discount on rail transit of Ukrainian cargo through its territory.
Andriy Sibiga, Ukraine’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, thanked Moldova and Prime Minister Vasile Tofan personally for their decision to support the transit of Ukrainian goods.
Sybiga noted that Russia is deliberately targeting Ukrainian ports and logistics routes, making alternative export routes particularly important.
According to him, the discount on rail transit will help ensure the export of Ukrainian agricultural products during the harvest season and is an important contribution to Ukraine’s resilience and global food security.

Ukraine is considering the possibility of transporting grain by rail through Moldova to the Romanian port of Constanța as a safer alternative to sea exports. Kyiv has already appealed to Chișinău to establish a reduced tariff for such shipments.
As a reminder, grain exports from Ukraine could fall by more than half.
