Sybiga Responded to Iran's Threats Against Ukraine
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga issued a strong statement in response to accusations and threats from Iran. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the regime in Tehran is a direct accomplice in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, as it has continuously fueled Moscow’s criminal actions since 2022 by supplying weapons that are killing Ukrainian citizens.
The foreign minister called on the Iranian leadership to cease attempts to portray itself as a victim and to justify its own threats with absurd references to the provisions of the UN Charter.
According to Sibiga, such statements by Iran are completely unfounded and intended to divert the international community’s attention from Russia’s systematic terror against civilian shipping in the Black Sea, which threatens global food security.
The Ukrainian diplomat assured that Tehran’s manipulative attempts to shift blame are doomed to failure. It is precisely Russia’s systematic attacks on freedom of navigation and cargo ships that will be the focus of an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council scheduled for July 27, from which Ukraine expects a decisive and unified response from the international community.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi put forward a conspiracy theory that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the strike on the Iranian vessel not merely because it was carrying weapons. The Iranian official claimed that the attack was carried out “at Israel’s behest” to drag Europe into the war, and threatened that Ukraine’s actions “will not go unanswered.”
In response, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Tehran is already effectively involved in the aggression, as it supplies Russia with “Shahed” attack drones and the technology to produce them.
