Sibiga will attend an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Cyprus

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga will pay a working visit to the Republic of Cyprus on May 27. The head of the Foreign Ministry will take part in an informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers in the “Gimnih” format, to be held in Limassol.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the diplomatic event, the head of the Ukrainian ministry plans to focus on several strategic areas:

  • Strengthening Europe’s role in peace efforts: Coordinating joint steps to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

  • EU integration: Discussing Ukraine’s progress toward the European community and practical preparations for the official opening of the first negotiation clusters.

  • Meeting defense needs: Updating requests from the Ukrainian Armed Forces regarding the supply of necessary weapons and military equipment.

  • Sanctions pressure: Strengthening economic and political restrictions against Russia to weaken its military capabilities.

In addition to participating in the general meeting agenda, Andriy Sibiga will hold a series of bilateral talks with European counterparts on the sidelines of the summit.

The “Gimnich” format is a traditional platform for informal meetings of EU foreign ministers, allowing for frank exchanges of views and the coordination of common positions on key security and geopolitical challenges without strict protocol constraints.

Sybiga commented on the Kremlin’s threats of new strikes on Kyiv.

Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, together with representatives of over 70 foreign diplomatic missions, visited the site of the Russian strike in Lukyanivka, Kyiv, and paid tribute to the victims.
