Olena Kravets spoke about her friendship with the Zelenskys during the war
Olena Kravets described how her relationship with Volodymyr and Olena Zelenskyy has changed since they entered politics and public life, and especially during the war. She admitted that they now rarely meet in person, although their warm relationship and shared memories remain. According to her, contact with the presidential couple has become infrequent and reserved.
Actress and TV host Olena Kravets, who was close to the Zelensky family for many years and shares godparenthood ties with them, candidly described what their friendship looks like today, when the lives of everyone involved in this story have changed dramatically due to politics, war, and constant stress.
In an interview with Slava Dyomin, she explained that they used to be not just colleagues at “Kvartal 95,” but close friends; however, after Volodymyr Zelenskyy became president, their communication gradually dwindled to almost nothing. “We don’t see each other,” Olena Kravets said succinctly and directly, describing the current state of her relationship with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
She emphasized that the president remains an important person to her, with whom she shares many personal and professional memories, but today their contact is limited to rare messages and holiday greetings, which don’t always get a response due to the head of state’s heavy workload. “I sometimes send him a message if I want to wish Olena or the children a happy holiday. Sometimes there’s no reply, sometimes I see that he hasn’t read it. We’re on completely opposite ends of the spectrum,” the actress shared.
Kravets also admitted that she doesn’t want to bother the president unnecessarily, understanding the level of responsibility and workload currently on his shoulders, especially during wartime, when every day involves crisis decisions and constant work.
She recalled that she had written to Zelenskyy at the very beginning of his presidential journey, offering him words of support and understanding, but since then, personal communication has effectively ceased.
Separately, the actress also spoke about Olena Zelenska, with whom she has not maintained regular contact for a long time either, noting that she does not even have her phone number for security reasons, and their last brief conversation took place during the recording of the podcast “How Are You?”, when they managed to hug for just a few minutes and talk about the simplest things—children, parents, and life.
Despite the distance and infrequent contact, Olena Kravets concluded that part of their friendship still lives on in memories of their work together, their jokes, and a time long past, but one that still means a great deal to her.
