Snow in the middle of spring: Unusual precipitation recorded in three Ukrainian cities

On April 10, wet snow fell in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv, which is unusual for mid-spring.

This was reported by local Telegram channels.

In the capital, the precipitation was light—the snow melted quickly due to above-freezing temperatures, which remained around +4°C. A similar situation was observed in other cities.

Forecasters had previously warned of a cold snap and possible precipitation in the form of wet snow.

At the same time, archived videos showing much heavier snowfall during the cherry blossom season in Kyiv are circulating online—these clips are not related to the current weather.

According to forecasts, the cold snap will continue in the coming days, with nighttime frosts possible down to –3°C, which could damage fruit trees and the future harvest.

Severe frosts are expected in Kyiv and the surrounding region over Easter, prompting forecasters to issue a Level II danger warning.
