The heat wave caused an emergency power outage in part of Lviv
An emergency power outage occurred in Lviv due to the extreme heat. Parts of the city center, the Frankivskyi District, and the Novyi Lviv neighborhood were left without power.
According to the city council, the outage occurred in the 110 kV grid. Due to the power outage, there may be disruptions in electric transit service.
Currently, Lvivoblenergo’s emergency crews are working to resolve the issue. Power is expected to be restored within an hour.

In Lviv, abnormally high temperatures have caused tram tracks to warp in several parts of the city. Due to the damage to the tracks, tram service has been temporarily suspended.
In South Korea, 16 people have died due to the intense heat this summer. More than 2,000 people have suffered from heat-related illnesses between May 15 and August 2, according to the country’s Ministry of the Interior.
