A lawmaker from the Ternopil region will face trial for a scheme to evade mobilization in exchange for $10,000
A city council member from the Ternopil region is to stand trial for organizing a corruption scheme to evade mobilization.
This was reported by the Kyiv Police.
According to the investigation, the official promised a conscript, in exchange for $10,000, to remove him from the wanted list and arrange for his deferment.
He claimed to have connections at regional recruitment centers and critical infrastructure enterprises.
Specifically, the deputy promised to influence officials at the recruitment centers to update the man’s military documents without his personal presence, as well as to arrange fictitious employment.
He was notified of the charges of abuse of influence.
The indictment has already been sent to court. The suspect faces up to five years in prison.
Charges have been filed against top SBU officials who “covered up” amber mining.
The deputy head of the SBU in Rivne Oblast received over $22,000 from a businessman through the same intermediary for ensuring unimpeded amber mining.
