Logistics personnel who embezzled 12.8 million hryvnias while purchasing army beds will face trial

The Odesa Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense Affairs in the Southern Region has filed indictments against two former heads of the Odesa Housing and Maintenance Department. 

Between 2023 and 2024, the officials purchased army beds at prices nearly double the market rate, disregarding more favorable offers.

The investigation found that the former officials’ actions caused losses to the state budget totaling more than 12.8 million hryvnias, and that one of the defendants had previously ordered furniture from the same supplier for his personal use. Both defendants are out on bail and are charged with negligence in military service and abuse of office.

As a reminder, an official at a Kyiv university overpaid 600,000 UAH for a projector for the theater.

Officials at the Territorial Center for Social Services in Kyiv’s Solomyanskyi District have been notified of suspicions of embezzlement of budget funds. According to the investigation, the municipal institution overpaid approximately 1.7 million hryvnias due to inflated prices for the purchase of diapers and care products for bedridden patients.
